The Phenomenance of Business

Mar 12, 2015 | Business

The phenomenance of business is the place where you begin to realize that business has a sense of joy in it. Business has a sense of creation in it. Business has a sense of the gift it is. If you have the gift of being able to create a business, and the gift of being able to live with your business, and enjoy your business, you open the door to a constant state of greater possibility with every choice you make in your business.

The Phenomenance of Business is about using business to create a different reality, rather than just using business to be more successful. Look at every choice you make with your business and ask, “If I choose this, what will this create? In 5 years? In 10 years? In 20 years? In 100 years?” When you recognize that your choices create, you may begin to choose from a different place in every situation.

There are so many different ways of doing business. How do you find the ways that work for you? First of all, you have to do what’s true for you. You have to be willing to walk your talk. Walking your talk is a different reality. It’s not about doing what other people want you to do. It’s not about doing what other people tell you to do. It’s not about how you’re supposed to do it. It’s about choosing to do what works for you. For me, if I give my word that I will do something, I do it, whether it hurts – financially or any other way – or not. The important part is not about what gets done as much as what gets created.

You’ve got to get that what you spend is not as relevant as what you become aware of. If you spend money on something and it doesn’t work, you become very aware that it didn’t work. But you also become aware of why it didn’t work. You’ve got to be willing to ask the question.

Many of us were taught to avoid making mistakes – in business as well as in life. It’s not about that. The reality is that every time you make a mistake, you become aware of something else. When you become aware of something else, the mistake is not relevant. What you can create becomes relevant. The mistake is only another choice you have to make to determine what is possible that you haven’t considered yet. You really have to function from: “What else is possible that I haven’t considered?” That should be your operative state in business.

What if you created possibilities with business? The truth is that there are only possibilities available if we are willing to create something greater. Never give up. Never give in. Never quit. If you get stopped in one direction, don’t quit. Ask another question and find out what else you might be able to do that you haven’t considered. Keep asking questions. Keep looking for other possibilities. When you get that as a way of being, you will never see that something can stop you. The only thing that can stop you is you and your point of view.

People have so many different definitions of business. Business is actually the fun of doing something that creates more possibilities by the fact that you’re choosing it.
